Ashes into the sea.

I am writing in order to accompany the music I just bought from iTunes, rather than the other way around, which I admit, is the usual. However, if I do not write this entry, I’ll never make it to the end of my mix.

There is a lot of randomness I could write about right now. Since last night, actually, I’ve been dying to write about how much fun work was. I worked with Thor in the cafe, and he and I get along so well. We act like brother and sister, or something, rather than two co-workers. It’s been really good having someone my age around. We understand all the pop-culture references, and it all just gels really well between us.

To add to the amusement, Igor and Stasia were working as well.
I wish that I could properly explain how funny the three of them are together. It often leads to my saying “You had to be there.”
I’d have to explain all of Igor’s idiosyncrasies, as well as the dynamic between him and Thor.

Stasia spent a good ten minutes standing behind the cafe, reading aloud from a book of Snapple facts.
She does things like that.

Thor and I came up with a good plan to get an annoying co-worker out of the way. Igor had been thinking of how to get rid of her while he and Thor were on break.
When Thor came back, I told him that all I could picture was Igor hiding among the stacks with a blow dart, aiming for our co-worker. As Igor is always decorated with more Sharpie markers than anyone would ever need at one time, Thor and I decided that it would be perfect if we fashioned a blow dart out of a Sharpie. It would be a brilliant cover.

Thor called Igor on his portable store phone (for emergencies), and mid-conversation, Igor just showed up in cafe, and we further waxed on how best to use the blow-dart plan.

Other humorous moments of the evening included a strange inside joke between me and Thor about a sea bass in the mop sink and our utter and complete insistence that Igor needs to go to YouTube and watch Fear of Girls. (He’s really into gaming, but equally into making fun of gaming.)

I also had Igor order me three collected volumes of Dork Tower.

Thor is going to leave in just two short weeks, and I am totally bummed. Igor and I will just have to go harass him.
Stasia is pretty annoyed that he’s leaving, as though it were his choice.

Well, my little mix is almost done, and then to bed will I go.
Here’s what I downloaded:

Tristan and Iseult: Tarkio
Bastards on Parade: Dropkick Murphys
I’m a Cuckoo: Belle and Sebastian
Richard Manuel (live acoustic): Counting Crows
Haiti: Arcade Fire
Love Love Love: The Mountain Goats
Know By Heart: The American Analog Set
The Model: Belle and Sebastian
All My Days: Alexi Murdoch
Misery Business: Paramore
Newborn: Elbows
Another Song For a Blue Guitar: Red House Painters
You Know I’m No Good: Amy Winehouse
Energy of Death: Apostle of Hustle
Keep the Car Running: Arcade Fire
Feel Good Inc.: Gorillaz
I’d Rather Dance With You: Kings of Convenience

I’m really quite pleased with the way this mix has turned out. I’m definitely going to have to eventually buy some full albums of some of these artists. (I actually almost bought some Belle and Sebastian albums, but couldn’t choose. I already have If You’re Feeling Sinister.) I definitely want the Arcade Fire catalog, though.

And now, to bed go I.

Great mix :) Anyway, if you can’t decide with Belle and Sebastian, I would personally recommend Tigermilk or Boy with the Arab Strap :)
